The track that is over 8 minutes long comes as a surprise, giving that the TESTPILOT project started in 2013 and he hadn’t released a track as such since 2014. Could this be the start of a new era for Joel Zimmerman? His techno sets are rowdy, dark and fun, so we are really hoping that is the case. The song will appear on deadmau5 newest EP some ep coming up next Friday july 19.

TESTPILOT

While Celebrating 25 years of the amazing project that is deadmau5, with a tour and even an exhibit in Las Vegas’ AREA15, The Canadian Grammy-nominated DJ and producer Joel Zimmerman aka deadmau5 is one of EDM’s biggest names. With a snarky personality and music that resonates with a massive audience, it’s expected for the artists to adapt to the times and evolve within his sound.

With his alias, the artist is able to dabble into different sounds. TESTPILOT’s take on techno has fused the tradition and soul of techno with a razor edge, sharpened by years of comprehensive knowledge and exploration of the music and its tools. His sets are haunting, cosmic, and move at prime velocity, ready for the darkest of warehouses. Now with the arrival of “Wet,” expect the unexpected from TESTPILOT. With ten years under his belt, TESTPILOT will make a triumphat return and perhaps take a bigger role in producing smashing tracks.

Lotus Announce New Year’s Eve Shows at Philadelphia’s Union Transfer

Hot on the heels of a bold new album, Lotus have announced a pair of New Year’s Eve shows to send off 2024 with a bang. On December 30 and 32, the innovative and influential jamtronica quartet will take the stage at Union Transfer in Philadelphia, marking the band’s next slated appearance in its hometown and its first since a New Year’s celebration at the very same venue last year. This announcement arrives one day after the release of How to Dream in Color, the group’s genre-bending 11th studio album.

How to Dream in Color represents a sonic revolution for Lotus, steering into new electronic textures for an elaborate and enthralling sound. This move is crystal clear on the album’s preview single “How Do I Come Down,” which stacks a shattered drumbeat, a rubbery bassline and a precise and powerful guitar riff to drive the listener through a musical odyssey. On the song’s significance, guitarist and keyboardist Luke Miller shared, “This track is a manifesto for the entire album – a dream scenario where anything is possible yet flows like water.” Bassist Jesse Miller adds, “The tonality moves between major and minor keys, akin to driving through a mountain highway, transitioning between light, dark, and the exhilarating unknown.”

The band’s latest is also its first studio set since the tragic passing of drummer Chuck Morris in 2023; with this, the album represents not only a tribute to his life and legacy, but also a testament to the strength and endurance of his musical family. Attendees at this year’s New Year’s show will witness a band immersed in a period of tribute and transformation, calling on the depth of its legacy and working through crisis on the way to a new horizon.

Tickets for Lotus’ NYE shows are available now, and expected to sell out quickly. For more information on the event and the band’s current tour, visit lotusvibes.com.
