BLACKPINK’s Rosé says new music is coming in the “not-too-distant future”
BLACKPINK singer Rosé has teased that she has new music coming in the “not-too-distant future”, following the announcement of her new record deal.

BLACKPINK’s Rosé recently addressed her new record deal with South Korean label The Black Label in an Instagram post, where she apologised to fans for “the long wait” on news about her solo career. “I know some of you have been very eager to hear from me for a while.”
With her new deal with The Black Label, Rosé became the final member of BLACKPINK to set a path for her solo career after the girl group decided not to renew their individual contracts with YG Entertainment. Her fellow bandmates, meanwhile, have all launched their own companies.
“I personally didn’t want to speak or announce anything before I had everything aligned for my music to be out,” the singer explained. “As you all know, I have come from a place where more things have been done for me over doing things on my own. So, naturally, I need time to learn, understand, doubt and trust myself and others.”
Rosé the confirmed that she has been working on new music, revealing that she has been “been in and out of the studio almost every single day” from the end of 2023 and all throughout 2024. “To me, there is nothing more important than delivering to you what I absolutely love, which is music,” she added.
“This has been a year of drawing up a map and navigating to where I want to be and what I want to be doing going forward. It has been months of learning how to be an independent person for myself,” she continued. “I will have some other very exciting announcements in the not-too-distant future, but most importantly, I would love for everyone to be most excited for my music.”
Earlier this this year, prior to her signing with The Black Label, Rosé teased a new song called ‘vampirehollie’ on Instagram. “I know I’ve been away for a minute, but I’ve been working really hard on some things that I’m really excited about,” she wrote at the time. “I cannot wait for you all to hear everything.”

DICE Announce Debut Album 'Midnight Zoo'
Buzzy Western Australian act DICE have finally announced their debut album, Midnight Zoo, will be arriving this year. And fans won’t have to wait long, with the LP slated to arrive on Friday, 9 August, via Tone City Records.
In addition to announcing the record, DICE have dropped the catchy new number, This Is Not A Love Song, to accompany the big news.
On the single, the band said, “Although This Is Not A Love Song does sound like a love song, we assure you it is not (or is it?)”.
Elaborating further, they added, “Have you met someone before and just thought ‘yep, they’re the one’ but you ended up feeling like a nervous school kid whilst they sat on a pedestal in your mind? This song tells the story of that so-called ‘Love’.”
You can check out the song below.
Since bursting onto the scene in 2021 and becoming a real breakthrough artist last year – their song, Stockholm, landed at #72 on triple j’s Hottest 100 of 2023 – DICE have amassed a devoted following, selling out tours across the country and locking in international radio play. Now seems like the perfect time for the band to take the next step and advance their career.
Midnight Zoo is what the band called their recording studio, Tone City Studios, during the making of the album.
DICE commented, “It was the place we all went to get away from everything, when we felt sad, when we had a fight, but it was also where our creativity was at its strongest.
“Termed Midnight Zoo because of its long nights, wild energy and full moon recordings, this title just fits like a glove with both the tracks and its creation. It’s also always been a joke that the studio is like a zoo, and when it turns to night, that’s when the magic happens”.
This month, DICE played their largest headlining gig to date at Brisbane’s Princess Theatre. In a review for The Music, Tione Zylstra remarked: “The night was perfect. Openers? Iconic. Setlist? To die for. The energy? Unmatched. My only criticism? DICE came on at 10 pm.”
You can pre-order/pre-save Midnight Zoo here.

The Melbourne soul-rock duo also released a live EP, entitled The Circle Session, back in January. Premiere: Secondhand Dreamcar – “Eight of Spades”
Secondhand Dreamcar is Edmonton’s newest contribution to the ongoing soul and funk revival that’s taking off across Canada. The band is a 9 piece supergroup of sorts, composed of some of Edmonton’s finest sidemen and fronted by singer Dana Wylie, already known for her country and folk songwriting prowess (and fresh off of a great LP of country duets with Cups N Cakes favourite Sammy Volkov). We’re pleased to premiere the very first song from the band, “Eight of Spades”, the lead single from their debut album Answer the Call, coming this October.
The song was captured live off the floor at Riverdale Recorders by the band’s bassist Harry Gregg, and has all the energy you’d expect from nine of Edmonton’s best players jamming out in the room together. Gregg’s bass playing strikes a perfect balance between being melodically interesting and structurally sound, while drummer Jamie Cooper holds things down with an irresistibly tasteful groove. The real star of the show, though, is Wylie; she sounds like she was born to sing these kinds of tunes, and the all-star band understands exactly how flashy they can be without distracting from Wylie’s stunner of a performance, while still rewarding those of us who want to listen for the ear candy (of which there is plenty).
You can catch the band at the historic Edmonton music venue Blues On Whyte this Friday, June 21st, to celebrate the release of the new single. Keep an eye out for more singles from the band as they prepare for the release of Answer the Call on October 11th, 2024.
