Why does Tik Tok Techno has no soul? And why does so much modern TikTok techno feel… empty? Cleaner production. Harder kicks. Bigger drops. But somehow less human. In this video, we explore why oldschool techno still feels alive — and why modern algorithm-driven techno often loses the hypnotic soul that made electronic music powerful in the first place. Using an original Roland TR-909, we break down: • why limitation creates groove • how dawless workflows change creativity • why menu diving kills flow • how repetition creates trance and tension • the difference between performing music vs editing it • why old techno was built for immersion — not scrolling This isn’t about nostalgia. It’s about friction, performance, commitment, and the strange emotional power of imperfect machines. Because maybe the problem isn’t technology. Maybe the problem is perfection. If you love: • techno history • modular synthesis • dawless production • Detroit techno • sequencers • analog drum machines • electronic music philosophy • cinematic synth documentaries …you’re in the right place. Subscribe for more deep dives into synthesizers, sequencing, modular systems, machine rhythm, and the philosophy of electronic music.
