Ross Wilson Plots Special One-Off Concert To Celebrate 50th Anniversary
Ross Wilson has announced the ultimate celebration of his sprawling musical catalogue – an extra special, one-night-only theatre show to commemorate his 50th anniversary as a working musician.
Ross Wilson Goes Track-By-Track On New EP ‘She’s Stuck On Facebook All The Time’
Launching his career with The Pink Finks in 1964 (when he was just 16 years old), Wilson would go on to perform in some of the most influential bands in Australian rock history – most notably Daddy Cool and Mondo Rock – and was influential in building the careers of many others; he’s the one that introduced Skyhooks to Michael Gudinski, for example, and as a producer helped them deliver three smash-hit albums.
Wilson’s celebratory concert – which he’ll perform with his current band The Peaceniks – is scheduled to go down at the State Theatre in Sydney (Eora) on Saturday September 28.
Tickets will go on sale at 10am next Monday (July 1), following a presale that kicks off at the same time this coming Thursday (June 27) – head here to sign up for the presale, or bookmark this link for the general sale
In a press release, Wilson said of his excitement for this one-off extravaganza: “Now Listen! We’re Steppin’ Out at one of my favourite places, the beautiful State Theatre right in the heart of Sydney, a city that has always been very welcoming to me and my music. I played the State with both Daddy Cool and Mondo Rock, and it’s gonna be great to tread the boards and raise the roof one more time with my killer band The Peaceniks.”
Meanwhile, last year saw Wilson release his first new music in 13 years, dropping the four-track EP She’s Stuck On Facebook All The Time. He followed it up with an expansive national tour that kicked off last September and only wrapped up back in March of this year.

“I grew up near São Paulo, but I see myself as a citizen of the world. Most people know me as a techno artist, but since 2017 I’ve been releasing ambient music, and slowly working towards combining those two sides of myself. Lately, spirituality has had a big impact on the music I make and the way I present it. I’m learning to trust my intuition and prioritise spiritual growth, and that’s how I navigated this project.
ANNA to Mixmag
ANNA states that CD2 explores the harder side of her sound, and CD1 represents the soft, mellow, ambient side. Both of these CDs are true representations of her. GU46 ANNA – Lisbon is available now digitally or on a deluxe CD, 3 x 12″ vinyl, or collector’s edition. For purchase details, check out the link here. It is no surprise that ANNA gets to be this edition’s star. GU founder, Andy Horsfield, tells Mixmag that they’ve been huge fans of ANNA’s music and dynamic DJ sets for many years. GU46 Lisbon is the perfect setting for the next edition of the city series.
I’m so grateful for the opportunity to build a project that fully displays the spectrum of my sound, with the energy rooted in Lisbon. It’s a city where I feel totally at home and at peace. [Not] just because it reminds me of Brazil, but because it has this unique energy that activates my spirit. Nowhere makes me feel as creative, inspired and fulfilled as Lisbon.”
As she embraces her spirituality, she brings us Global Underground’s latest compilation. Listen below now.

Sabrina Carpenter Reacts to Her First Hot 100 No. 1: ‘I Will Surely Always Remember This Day for the Rest of My Life!’
It’s officially the Summer of Sabrina, and she’s taking some time to celebrate.
On Monday (June 24), Billboard announced that Sabrina Carpenter scores her first Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit this week, with “Please Please Please” rising from No. 2 in its second week. And to add some whipped cream to the top of her latte, Carpenter’s song “Espresso” is also in the top five, sitting at No. 4 (following a No. 3 peak earlier this year).
Carpenter celebrated the news on Instagram, posting a three-item carousel to her feed on Monday. The first photo is the graphic of this week’s Hot 100. Then there’s a video of Carpenter performing the song’s signature claps with co-writer/producer Jack Antonoff and co-writer Amy Allen, plus engineer Laura Sisk off camera.
And finally, there’s an ill-fated quote-tweet from a fan on X that reads of “Please Please Please”: “i dont think ive ever seen someone fumble a second single this hard. my goodness.” Whoops!
“MY FIRST #1 on the @billboard HOT 100!!!!!!!” reads Carpenter’s caption on Instagram. “And espresso at #4.. I’m very immensely grateful so i will surely always remember this day for the rest of my life! @jackantonoff @amyallen i deeply love this song and i love you both!!!!! I love our pitchy claps!!!!! I love @sharp_stick [Sisk] !!!! good things come in three’s. thank you everyone who’s listened and made it so much fun to have these songs out in the world. more to come soon.”
Danielle Fishel — who played Topanga Matthews, the mom of Carpenter’s character’s best friend on Girl Meets World — hit the comments section to applaud the child actor-turned-adult pop star. “The most deserving beautiful (inside and out) bb. I love you forever.”
Meanwhile, over on the Billboard Global 200, Carpenter holds the top two spots with “Please Please Please” and “Espresso,” which was No. 1 last week. On her IG Story, Carpenter simply captioned the chart graphic “Motherf—er!!!!!!!”
“Espresso” and “Please Please Please” are the first two singles from Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet album, due Aug. 23. She also announced her Short n’ Sweet Tour last week, which kicks off in September.
