Expressive E Launches MPE Sound Bank For Lounge Lizard EP-5

Attack Mag - News - Feat Images Expressive E

A new preset collection introduces advanced expression capabilities to AAS’s electric piano plugin.

Expressive E has released a new preset library for Applied Acoustics Systems’ Lounge Lizard EP-5, expanding its catalogue of expressive sound content for MPE-enabled instruments. The new collection, titled Electric Expressions, features 100 presets designed to utilise MIDI Polyphonic Expression (MPE) fully, providing enhanced control over dynamics, timbre, and articulation.

Available exclusively through Expressive E’s website, the Lounge Lizard Expressive Suite marks the first collaboration between the French company and AAS, whose physically-modelled electric piano has long been a favourite among producers seeking accurate vintage EP tones.

Optimised for Osmose

The new suite is fully compatible with all MPE-enabled controllers, including ROLI Seaboard, Ableton Push 3, and Expressive E’s own Osmose synthesiser. Each preset is crafted to respond in real time to pitch bends, per-note pressure, and aftertouch – parameters not accessible via traditional MIDI keyboards.

The presets are built around Lounge Lizard EP-5’s dual modelling engine, which simulates both tine- and reed-based electric pianos. The result is a broad sonic palette ranging from clean, bell-like sounds to gritty, organic textures. According to Expressive E, every preset was created in-house by its MPE sound design team, emphasising expressive playability and nuance.

For users of Osmose, which features a three-dimensional keybed capable of capturing fine touch details, the presets promise particularly tight integration. However, the suite is designed to offer consistent performance across a range of expressive controllers.

Physical modelling & expression-focused design

While sampling has dominated digital piano emulations for years, Lounge Lizard relies on physical modelling, allowing more detailed control of parameters like mallet hardness, pickup position, and tone bar resonance. This modelling approach aligns well with MPE, which enables players to manipulate multiple performance parameters independently per note.

The release follows Expressive E’s earlier MPE sound libraries for Dune 3 and Legend HZ, further reinforcing its commitment to expanding expressive tools for modern producers.

Availability and pricing

The Lounge Lizard Expressive Suite is now available in two versions. For new users, a bundle that includes both Lounge Lizard EP-5 and the Electric Expressions preset bank is offered at an introductory price of $/€99.50 until November 19, 2025 (regular price $/€199). Existing Lounge Lizard owners can purchase the preset bank alone for $/€19.99 (regular price $/€29.99).

The suite is available exclusively via Expressive E’s website.
