Eternal Research Lets EMF Become an Instrument

Electronic music has always had a close relationship with invisible forces. Voltage. Signal. Feedback. Interference. Magnetic pull. The hum that leaks out of machines before anyone decides whether it is a problem or a texture. Eternal Research has built an entire instrument around that last part, and its latest Rite of the Demon performance showed […]

P.F. Flyers Goes Handmade for Nightlife

Nightlife fashion moves fast on the surface. One weekend it is oversized pants, washed tees, racing jackets, battered sneakers, and tiny sunglasses. The next weekend it is something else pulled from an archive, a thrift rack, a merch table, or some micro-trend that got copied too quickly. The best pieces tend to sit outside that […]

Nomadix Makes Festival Bags Less Precious

Festival weekends and DJ travel always look cleaner in recap posts than they feel in real life. The bag is usually the thing dealing with the worst of it: dust, rain, airport floors, rideshare trunks, green rooms, cable spills, hotel room chaos, security lines, and the constant small panic of wondering where the adapter, charger, […]

Fender Motion Turns Pads Into Song Starters

Most MIDI controllers still ask the same basic thing from the producer: bring the idea first, then use the hardware to enter it. Fender Motion is built around a different pressure point. It is still a controller, with pads, encoders, touch strips, transport control, DAW navigation, MIDI I/O, and drum-programming use cases. The more interesting […]

One Additional Guitarist Joins Dylan on Final Summer Tour Date

Bob Dylan closed out his U.S. summer tour on Saturday night in Nashville. Over the course of the 34 shows (the Raleigh gig was canceled due to weather), Dylan cycled in a variety of guitarists. Bob Britt and Doug Lancio left the band in June, with Joel Paterson now appearing on most dates, while Julian Lage and Jad Tariq have shared the role as well.

The performance at the Ascend Federal Credit Union Amphitheater featured Paterson and Lage along alongside Dylan, bassist Tony Garnier and drummer Anton Fig. Five songs into the set, the roster expanded as guitar player Jimmie Vaughan took the stage with the group for “False Prophet” from Dylan’s 2020 album, Rough and Rowdy Ways. Vaughan remained for a cover of “I Can Tell,” a Samuel Smith song long associated with Bo Diddley, which Dylan has been performing since 6/27/25. He later returned as the three J’s (Julian Lage, Joel Paterson and Jimmie Vaughan) shared guitar duties on “Goodbye Jimmy Reed,” another Rough and Rowdy Ways track.

Vaughan had been on hand to open the show with his Tilt-A-Whirl Band, sharing duties with Lucinda Williams.
