Sally Anne Morgan :: Second Circle The Horizon

Sally Anne Morgan hasn’t missed with a solo album since her 2020 debut, Threads, and her fourth and latest, Second Circle The Horizon, only further solidifies her position as a purveyor of traditional music distilled through a modern, experimental lens. Rooted in her fiddle playing—for which she’s known in her capacity as a member of Black Twig Pickers and the duo House of Land with Sarah Louise—Morgan’s rustic, Appalachian folk music takes winding turns through valleys of droning psychedelia and minimalism. In addition to the fiddle, she employs banjo, electric and acoustic guitar, piano, and various percussion, while also receiving some help from Animal Collective’s Geologist on the hurdy gurdy, Field Patterns’ Sean Dunlap on synthesizer, and her longtime collaborator & mixer Joseph Dejarnette on bass.
