Randall Bramblett will join Steve Winwood’s band on his upcoming September run. As previously reported, Winwood is slated to kick off a series of shows with John Fogerty in Tinley Park, IL, on September 3, moving throughout the East Coast before bringing things to a close in Hollywood, FL on September 20. This marks the first time the Athens, GA-based Bramblett has toured as part of Winwood’s band since 2004. On the upcoming outing, the multi-instrument will switch between his trademark instruments—keyboards, flute and saxophone.
Bramblett has a long history with Winwood. He previously spent 16 years in Winwood’s backing band, including a 1994 Traffic reunion tour that crossed paths with the Grateful Dead. During the past 22 years, Bramblett has mostly concentrated on his solo career, releasing nine additional solo albums, though he has also steadily collaborated with Bettye LaVette. His most recent set, Paradise Breakdown, arrived in 2024.
In a statement he said, “It’s been many years since I played with Steve and I was happy to get the call. He’s always been a hero of mine for his singing, tasty organ and piano playing (and for being a fine human being). Time to get on the bus and roll!”
