This is how I play live, and these are the decisions that come with it. No talking, just performing. Recorded live at Wooferland Festival, using hardware, synthesizers, drum machines, modular gear, sequencing, and improvisation to perform electronic music live. This isn’t a DJ set. I’m performing the music live, using hardware, synthesizers, drum machines and modular gear, with prepared elements and plenty of decisions made in the moment. Parts of the set are prepared; they have to be. But within that structure, I’m constantly mixing, changing arrangements, creating transitions, bringing elements in and out, and reacting to what is happening in the moment. That balance between preparation and improvisation is what playing live means to me. I know what I’m bringing to the stage, but I don’t want every moment decided before I get there. No voice-over, no explanation, just the performance, the crowd, the decisions, the mistakes, and the music as it happened. If you have questions about what I’m doing, the gear, sequencing, transitions, mixing, preparation, or how I build a live set like this, leave them in the comments. I’ll use some of those questions for future videos. Live from Wooferland.
