Mike Gordon Joins Darrell Scott in Boulder
Mike Gordon made a surprise appearance with noted singer-songwriter Darrell Scott at Boulder, CO’s eTown Hall last night. The bassist, who is in town for Phish’s annual three-show Labor Day weekend run at Commer City, CO’s Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, emerged at the end of Scott’s first set for Townes Van Zandt’s “White Freightliner Blues” and Johnny Cash’s “Big River.” Then, partway through Scott’s second set, eTown founder and Hot Rize member Nick Forster emerged for “Colorado” and remained on stage as Gordon returned for “It’s The Whiskey That Eases The Pain,” Hank Williams’ “Weary Blues From Waiting,” “Born To Fly” and “Wayfaring Pilgrim.”
Gordon has performed on eTown before, notably recording a session with Leo Kottke in 2005. Phish has worked a few Hot Rize songs into their catalog as well, including “Nellie Kane,” which they have played 75 times since 1993, mostly recently at Boulder’s Folsom Field last summer. They also ran through “Midnight on the Highway” once in 1996, after jamming on it while crossing the border into Canada at night.
Phish will kick off their Dick’s run this evening. Gordon also recently sat in with his bandmate Bob Wagner for a series of honky-tonk tunes in Vermont, alongside his daughter Tessa. Grace Potter also emerged during the evening.

Phoebe Bridgers: Lost Weekend
It is not remotely hyperbolic to say that singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers’ latest album, Lost Weekend, is one of indie rock’s most hyped-up and breathlessly anticipated releases of 2026. That’s certainly thanks to Bridger’s music—clever, deeply emotional songwriting set to subdued and haunting folk—but also the lack thereof: Lost Weekend is just her third album, and her first solo release in six years. In some ways, she’s been everywhere—winning a Grammy as part of boygenius, collaborating with SZA, opening for Taylor Swift—but this third album is years in the making.
So we’re thrilled to report: Phoebe Bridgers is back, and better than ever. Lost Weekend is a fitting next chapter for Bridgers’ musical evolution. 2020’s Punisher was a more orchestral, versatile expansion from the straight-ahead folk of 2017’s Stranger in the Alps—and Lost Weekend keeps pushing the edges of her sound in every direction.
There are tons of folks lending a hand here—Tony Berg, Jack Antonoff, Ethan Gruska and Alex G all co-produce with Bridgers. Big names like Chris Thile, Blake Mills and Bridger’s partner Bo Burnam show up in the credits, with many more. But the album never feels crowded—and nothing takes away from Bridgers’ intimate vocals.
With first single “Lost Boys,” Bridgers has written her catchiest song yet—a glimmering pop-rock singalong ode to men who “never grow up, never go home.” On “Never Going Back!” Bridgers takes a page from collaborator Conor Oberst for a gloriously ragged, rocking mantra (“Never going back again, the way it used to be is not the way that it is”) that dissolves into a sweet, loving voicenote from her father, who died in 2025. And on “Other Plans,” she’s whispering over ethereal piano, “Our love had other plans for us.” Bring tissues.
On “Bobby,” Bridgers is closest to her boygenius sound—a rock tune that kicks off with a shout and builds into gang vocals (“This could be the end”) before melting into ambient tones.
