In a separate post, Ann Wilson addressed the situation, explaining that the “time-sensitive” medical procedure she had undergone in late May was to remove something that “as it turns out, was cancerous”.

She added: “The operation was successful & I’m feeling great but my doctors are now advising me to undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy & I’ve decided to do it. And so my doctors are instructing me to take the rest of the year away from the stage in order to fully recover.”

Wilson also wrote that she “absolutely” plans “to be back on stage in 2025”, and signed off by saying that her letter would be “the last public statement I’d like to make on the matter”. Read the full post below.

In late May, Wilson and Heart announced that their European shows would be cancelled as the singer had to undergo “time-sensitive” medical procedures. At the time, the nature of the procedure was unknown, but they shared that Wilson’s expected recovery time would be six weeks. Heart wrapped up their first leg of their North American tour with Cheap Trick in late April and May.

In April, the band teamed up with Jimmy Fallon to perform the ’80s hit ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ to mark April 8th’s solar eclipse. Most of North America and Mexico witnessed the spectacle for the first time since 2017. A total solar eclipse occurs when the moon lines up perfectly between the Earth and the sun, blocking out the sunlight. North America won’t see the celestial event again for 21 years.
