Grand Alliance Music Debuts ‘NUMINOUS’: A Diverse Tapestry of Bass Music Excellence

Introducing Grand Alliance Music’s midtempo madness off their debut ‘NUMINOUS’ compilation
is the heavyweight hailing from Perth, Australia, the grand samurai of halftime ,Illucid who is
well known for starting the bush’s biggest bass music raves and releases on Pulp Glitchin’
Records, Diffraction Collective and 8Ball Audio.

He returns to the Grand Alliance Music with ‘You Say’, a track filled with out-of-this-world,
earth-enchanting melodies and slaps you in the chest with a pulsating bass like you’ve never
heard before. Start with the compilation’s midtempo section and discover more of the
progression of bass music throughout the remainder of the collection.

Ohio’s Lucas the Flow brings a blend of blissful, bouncy and wet bass that is sure to bring you
the feels. ‘Source Calling’ is a song about Source / God /The Universe calling to us through
music, art, and life itself. This cosmic message comes through in many ways, and the question
posed in the lyrics of the song is if it is loud enough to hear, because we can’t do it on our own
but together in synergy with the Source.

Vsoundz surfaces on this third series as well, the Australian based artist is what multiple people
have called “the wizard of multi genre mixes.” With his arsenal of high-vibrational tracks his
sonic journey transforms even the faint of heart. Be prepared to experience a mixed bag of
feelings and emotions through Vsoundz endless vibes and soul moving bass.

The final artist coming up in this installment is the Boston based artist Mosaiq. He brings a
masterpiece in sound design called ‘Two Left’. This track will immerse the listener in deep wubs,
seamless melodies and will leave feelings as if a co-pilot of a UFO was flying through the
galaxy. Mosaiq is an enigma in the bass music scene and also did the album art for the main
cover and all 5 parts.

The fourth segment of the ‘NUMINOUS’ compilation album invites listeners into a realm of
serene tranquility with its collection of downtempo. Each track unfolds, weaving together lush
harmonies and entrancing rhythms to create a sonic journey of introspection and relaxation.
From dreamy atmospheres to soothing beats, this section captivates audiences with its melodic
charm and evocative ambiance. This is the part where time seems to stand still.

‘Eyes of the Dark’’, from Klamath Falls, Oregon based artist Lucid Slip spring of releases from
Wakaan, Wubaholics and Manic Minds opens this chapter of the compilation with an eloquent
conversation between bright serene sounds and melancholic bass lines. It’s full of dynamic
futuristic noises, rooted in expressing the emotional conflict and balance between light and dark.

Boise, Idaho’s Schuz and Seattle’s own Luke Rain formed a musical bond like no other to bring
us, ‘Hear Me Calling’, the call of mother earth to humanity, asking whether we can hear her
calling out for us to make a change in how we treat our planet. The organic instrumental
melodies and nature sounds in the intro and breaks set the tone of the natural world and the
heavy bass and drums of the drop bring out the cathartic feeling of unease that we hold,
knowing our planet is in peril.

The third and final artist of this piece is one Grand Alliance Music’s own member
Bandersnatch. Hailing from the windy city of Chicago, Bandersnatch delivers us his
newest creations titled, ‘Sennedjem’. This song was the name of an ancient Egyptian
artist, and his name translates to “Servant in the Temple of Truth.”

This release is a close-to-the-heart creation that really showcases the future for the sound of
Bandersnatch and highlights the iridescent energy that is in the air, around all of us, at all
times. The idea here was to connect to these ancient energies of creation, and channel energy
from this ancient Egyptian artist who served from a place of Light and Truth, from heavy subs,
wobbles, and cosmic synthesizer work, this song will leave you feeling like you’re connected to
antiquity.

To cap off the compilation we see Grand Alliance Music’s co-founder, BUTTONZ with Yilo and
fendz from Kalamazoo.

Yilo shares on ‘0 Degrees’, “I wrote this song over the course of a few weeks in December of
2023 and January of 2024 when it was literally 0 degrees outside. This song warmed me up.”

For Yilo, career highlights include sold-out shows supporting Maddy O’Neal & Late Night Radio,
performances at Lost Lands, hitting 100k total plays on SoundCloud, and sharing stages with
acts like Boogie T, Toadface, and DMVU, showcasing Yilo’s experimental fusion of harmonies
and frequencies rooted in love and inspiration from artists like Ganja White Night and Twenty
One Pilots. Upcoming tour dates includes a stop at OneZen Music and Arts Festival in PA, as
Milo Yugen aims to add color to the world through music and art.

“This track is uniquely special to me because Hydra and I have been talking about making a
track for about ten years now and its finally here! “

BUTTONZ, an electronic bass music producer from Southwest Michigan, has left an indelible
mark on the scene, co-founding Grand Alliance Music, sharing stages with acts like Zeds Dead
at Ybar Kzoo in 2013, and gracing the lineup of the inaugural Morflo Music Festival. With
influences ranging from classic rock to underground bass music, BUTTONZ’s captivating sound,

blending intricate sampling and heavy basslines, continues to push boundaries and garner
attention as one of the most promising talents in electronic music.
fendz cuts to the point with his comments around his contribution ‘Mana’, “this project was
named ‘Murder Hat’ for most of its life because that was the name of the high hat sample we
started with.”

After fendz sold-out Papa Pete’s, announced that DJ/promoter Patrick McKenzie aka Large
Mouth BASS would be joining the group and opened for Rusko, fendz solidified their place in
the Michigan music scene. The project continues to evolve.

DEAD CERT. Records releases Saurio’s ‘Paradox Protocol’

DEAD CERT. Records is a label linked to the well known website deathtechno.com ran by Jack! Who? in the UK. A diverse palette has seen previous releases feature artists including Petter B, Paul Mac, TWR72, Echoplex, Eomac and more.

Felipe Párraga aka Saurio is an emerging artist from Bogotá, Colombia who returns to DEAD CERT. with a four-track EP following outstanding VA appearances that included hypnotic trips such as “Cheap Metaphysics” and “Algerian.” His music has also been featured on labels like Bruno Ledesma’s Concepto Hipnotico, Syrte aka Stefan Weise’s Science Cult, Diffuse Reality, Warok Music, Korpus 9, Parabola and more.

Opening with “The Nocturn,” the abstract sound design is as bizarre as it is catchy and tense all at once. Setting an unmistakable mood of creativity and function, this crazy weapon is ready to melt all corners of the dance floor.

“Ethereal Boundaries” presents a more delicate and hypnotic approach. Using quirky, tribal percussion and shimmering notes around droning elements and a chugging bassline it has an engrossing, dystopian aesthetic.

The third of four tracks launches straight into a raw, thundering groove on “Reptoid Moon.” A volatile and intense juggernaut that captivates the mind with its slicing, mechanical and modular groans creating a moody, mesmerising vibe.

Closing with “Corrupted Light” and its ripping style made of powerful rhythms, this sonic tapestry is avant-garde as well as purist. Phasing and sweeping foundations add a dark, sci-fi feeling alongside cyclical elements for tremendous impact.

Taylor Swift Debuts ‘The Albatross’ Live in Mashup With a ‘Reputation’ Song in Dublin

Taylor Swift debuted another Tortured Poets Department track live Saturday night (June 29). The singer-songwriter performed “The Albatross,” found on the Anthology edition of her latest album, for the first time at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium.

“I’m gonna do a song I’ve never performed live before today,” she announced at the Eras Tour endstage, where she brings surprise songs (song mashups, lately) to the acoustic section of her show each night.

On guitar, she dove right into “The Albatross”: “Wise men once said/ Wild winds are death to the candle/ A rose by any other name is a scandal/ Cautions issued, he stood/ Shooting the messengers/ They tried to warn him about her,” sang Swift. “Cross your thoughtless heart/ Only liquor anoints you/ She’s the albatross/ She is here to destroy you.”

Swift suddenly shifted to “Dancing With Our Hands Tied,” a highlight from her Rep album about a love she fears will be endangered.

“I knew there was no one in the world who could take it,” she admits on the track. “But we were dancing/ Dancing with our hands tied, hands tied.”

She expertly mashed up the two songs’ moving bridges, starting with “Dancing” — “I’d kiss you as the lights went out/ Swayin’ as the room burned down/ I’d hold you as the water rushes in/ If I could dance with you again” — and adding in her “Albatross” tale, offering: “And when that sky rains fire on you/ And you’re persona non grata/ I’ll tell you how I’ve been there too/ And that none of it matters.”

“Spread my wings like a parachute/ I’m the albatross/ I swept in at the rescue,” Swift sings on The Tortured Poets Department track.

On piano during Saturday night’s acoustic set, Swift performed 1989‘s dreamy “This Love,” which she embellished with elements of her Speak Now-era love song “Ours.”

“When you’re young, you just run/ But you come back to what you need,” she sang from “This Love,” reassuring her muse with the sweet “Ours”: “It’s not theirs to speculate if it’s wrong/ Your hands are tough, but they are where I belong/ I’ll fight their doubt and give you faith with this song for you.”

Two months after an April 19 release, Swift has now played the majority of the 31-track Tortured Poets set live at least once. Her main set list includes several songs from the album: “But Daddy I Love Him,” a bite-sized taste of “So High School,” ‘Whose Afraid of Little Old Me?” and “Down Bad,” which transitions to “Fortnight,” followed by “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” and the theatrical “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart.”

Here’s what Manic Street Preachers and Suede played as they kicked off their co-headline UK tour

Manic Street Preachers and Suede played the first gig of their co-headline tour of the UK last night. Check out the setlist below.

READ MORE: Manic Street Preachers on their US tour with Suede: “We share a DNA”

The two indie giants kicked off their joint tour last night at Llangollen International Eisteddfod 2024. The bands first toured Europe together back in 1993, before last year they recreated the line-up for a string of US shows. They’ll also return for joint dates in Japan this winter.

On their UK and Ireland tour, each act will perform for approximately 75 minutes, taking it in turns to play last each evening. Last night, Manic Street Preachers took the finale spot, closing the show with ‘If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next’ from their 1998 album ‘This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours’.

Prior to the tour, Manics’ frontman James Dean Bradfield promised that the Manics would deliver “a banging greatest hits set – as simple as that”. And it seemed they delivered, with the band playing hits from each era of their almost 40-year career.

Speaking to NME ahead of their US tour together in 2022, Bradfield recalled their joint 1994 tour, when the Manics were promoting their seminal third album ‘The Holy Bible’. “God almighty, that’s a long time ago, isn’t it? I vividly remember those gigs because Richey [Edwards, now missing guitarist] was coming back from what you might call his emotional event and was insisting that he wanted to come on the road,” he said. “We were treading softly with Richey at some points, and Suede had lost Bernard Butler as their guitarist and were going through the transition of Richard Oakes coming into the band.

— Odedos (@odedber) June 29, 2024

“I remember just looking at them and thinking, ‘Wow, are they going to survive after losing Bernard?’ Because he was such a brilliant guitarist and musical architect. He had that chemistry of writing with Brett and left big shoes to fill. I remember being obsessed with ‘Dog Man Star’ (1994) when it came out, which is such an amazing album that I used to listen to all the time.”

“Watching Suede on stage and Richard Oakes was just amazing. He had the hair, he had the moves, he had the chops, and he fitted in on stage. The next question was if they could write songs together, they came out with [1996 album] ‘Coming Up’ which is one of the best albums of the ‘90s.”

Suede’s setlist was:

‘Turn Off Your Brain and Yell’
‘Trash’
‘Animal Nitrate’
‘The Drowners’
‘We Are the Pigs’
‘Pale Snow’
‘I Don’t Know How to Reach You’
‘Killing of a Flashboy’
‘Filmstar’
‘Antidepressants’
‘Life Is Golden’
‘She Still Leads Me On’
‘Shadow Self’
‘The 2 of Us’
‘So Young’
‘Metal Mickey’
‘Beautiful Ones’

Manic Street Preachers’ setlist was:

‘Motorcycle Emptiness’
‘From Despair to Where’
‘Everything Must Go’
‘Slash ‘n’ Burn’
‘You Stole The Sun From My Heart’
‘To Repel Ghosts’
‘Little Baby Nothing (with The Anchoress)’
‘Your Love Alone Is Not Enough (with The Anchoress)’
‘Elvis Impersonator: Blackpool Pier’
‘A Design For Life’
‘La tristesse durera (Scream to a Sigh)’
‘Walk Me To The Bridge’
‘Tsunami’
‘Orwellian’
‘You Love Us’
‘No Surface All Feeling’
‘If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next’

Suede recently announced that the recording of a new album is under way, and it’s going to be “noisy”, “unhinged” and “raw”, according to Brett Anderson. They debuted a taste of it at Isle Of Wight Festival earlier this month, playing a new track titled ‘Antidepressants’ during their set at the festival on June 23. Based around urgent post-punk guitar riffs and a typically Suede anthemic chorus, the song offers a preview of their self-described “raw”, new era.

Meanwhile, earlier this month Manic Street Preachers shared details of a new book of previously unseen Valerie Phillips photographs of the band, titled Little Baby Nothings. The book will feature over 200 photographs taken by the artist in 1991 and 1992, around the time of the release of their debut album ‘Generation Terrorists’.

Suede and Manic Street Preachers will head to Dublin next week (July 5), before playing Cardiff, Edinburgh, Manchester and Leeds. The tour will wrap up in London’s Alexandra Palace Park on July 18. You can find any remaining tickets here.

The remaining Suede and Manic Street Preachers tour dates are:

Friday 5 – Cardiff Castle *
